The Wood-Mizer BMST50 is a practical and cost-effective solution for sawyers who recondition their blades in-house and process smaller volumes of timber or operate their sawmill occasionally. By combining sharpening and tooth setting functions in one compact unit, the BMST50 saves both workshop space and investment costs.
This versatile 2-in-1 machine allows users to perform two essential blade maintenance operations without the need for separate sharpening and setting machines. A small, stable workbench or table is all that is required to begin operation.
Simple Operation and Quick Changeover
The BMST50 is a manually operated unit designed for ease of use. The operator controls two levers – one for advancing the blade and the other for performing either sharpening or tooth setting. Switching between sharpening and setting modes is quick and straightforward.
The unit is compatible with 32 mm (1 1/4") blades and most blade profiles available in the Wood-Mizer range.
Precision and Stability
The BMST50 is equipped with blade stabilizing clamps, adjustment knobs for blade height and clamping pressure, an adjustable tooth-setting pin, and a precise tooth set measuring gauge (included).
This configuration preserves the original tooth geometry, prevents profile deformation, ensures consistent, repeatable sharpening results, and protects the grinding head and wheel from damage.
With compact dimensions of 50 × 50 cm (20" × 20"), the unit can be installed in virtually any workshop. It operates on 12V DC power, with an option to convert to 230V AC.
CBN Grinding Wheels – Superior Sharpening Quality
Wood-Mizer recommends the use of CBN (Borazon) grinding wheels, manufactured from one of the hardest known materials. These wheels do not require dressing, prevent blade overheating and burning, feature a factory-set profile that must match the blade tooth geometry.
The BMST50 uses 127 mm (5") CBN grinding wheels, which operate with mineral oil for cooling and cleaning. Wood-Mizer offers several CBN wheel profiles to match different blade tooth designs.
