Setworks

Electronic Setworks Systems
Cutting wood on a daily basis requires a lot of measuring and math work, which reduces operator productivity. Wood-Mizer’s electronic Setworks systems take the guesswork out of sawing and increase recovery and productivity. Using a Setworks system, the sawmill operator does not need to work out the measurements and factor in the amount of wood removed by the blade. All he needs to do is set a required board width, and start cutting.

ACCUSET

Accuset significantly increases the operational flexibility provided by Simple Setworks and PLC Setworks. In addition to 16 programmable memories for board thickness, the system also has four operational modes.

  • Manual Mode - The system operates purely manually.
  • Auto Up/Down Mode - Each flick of the up/down switch raise or lowers the head by the programmed amount.
  • Pattern Mode - 16 standard cutting patterns can be programmed into the system.
  • Reference Mode - The system can remember the position of the head on the last cut made on two sides of the cant.

PLC SETWORK

The PLC Setworks is for sawmills equipped with AC up/down motors. The functionality is very similar to that of the Simple Setworks with the capacity for two operator programmable dimensions, which can be selected at the touch of a button. The ability to pre-program frequently used dimensions and instantly recall them increases productivity and accuracy, which, in turn, increases profitability from your sawing operation. PLC Setworks also features upper and lower head limits and an inbuilt calculator, referenced to the bed, to enable you to cut a preset thickness right the way down to the last cut.

SW PLC 2 SETWORK

The SW-PLC2 Setworks is a sawmill option that automatically lowers the saw head to a preset cutting height. The SW-PLC2 Setworks is based on a programmable logic controller (PLC), a magnetostrictive measuring strip (which reads current saw head heights), a programmable control panel and a rotational speed controller used in asynchronous motors.

SW SETWORKS

The SW Setworks increases productivity and accuracy using rugged electronics to quickly position the head for the next cut. Available for both AC and DC mills, the SW setworks is easy to use and allows you to change board sizes very quickly, without the need to preprogramme every dimension needed.

Debarker

Because the outside of a log is often covered in mud, sand or abrasive bark, a debarker is essential to improving the cutting life of your sawmill blades. The debarker clears a path in front of the blade, preventing your blades from running through mud, rocks, or thick bark. The debarker’s powerful motor will help you keep your blades in great shape between sharpening and extend overall blade life. And the less time you spend changing and sharpening your blades, the more time you’ll spend sawing.

LubeMizer

Blade Lubrication System
Without proper lubrication, certain timber can be very difficult to cut, as sap will adhere to the blade and cause decreased performance. The LubeMizer system helps keep the blade clean for smooth cutting. It features an adjustable electronic flow controller and pump that applies a special lubricating solution to both sides of the blade. LubeMizer additive can be used in small amounts for a little sap and used in the continuous mode to tackle blades with encrusted sap.

Bed Extensions

Manual

Most Wood-Mizer portable sawmills can handle just about any log length imaginable. You can add 1.8 m or 3.6 m or 7.2 m extensions to the existing bed sections, and tackle super-long logs with ease. Bed extensions are not only useful for cutting single logs.

Many operators utilize extra-long beds in order to load and cut two logs in the same pass, increasing production dramatically. This is common in places where extra workers can assist the operator with log loading and handling while the operator concentrates on sawing.

Bed Extension

Hydraulic

Hydraulic bed extensions are available for LT20, LT40, and LT70 AC sawmills with the “M” bed frame.

Laser

Ideal for indoor sawmill setups, this laser beam pinpoints the precise location where the blade will hit the log, reducing slabs and increasing yield. The LaserSight may be retrofitted to any Wood-Mizer mill equipped with a 12-volt battery.

Not recommended for use in direct sunlight. Not available on the LT15 and LT20.

Laser

AutoClutch

With just the flick of a finger, you can engage the blade clutch and get full power from the motor. Flip the switch in the other direction, and the blade will stop as the engine returns to idle.

Not available on the LT15 and LT20.

Sawmill Wireless Control

Controlling sawmill functions doesn’t always have to be traditional, with a sawmill operator walking along the bed and pressing buttons on the panel. If you need the freedom of moving around the sawmill and better control of the sawmilling process, you should try the option of WIRELESS control of your machine. This option is available for the LT40 and LT70 sawmills.

The wireless control system consists of a signal receiver installed on the operator panel and a wireless transmitter carried by the operator. The receiver and the transmitter work on the 434 MHz radio waves allowing for a smooth connection at a maximum distance of 100 m, in every weather condition (temp. range -25ᵒC to +70ᵒC), and around other wireless devices. The transmitter works up to 14-20 hours on one battery charging which is sufficient for controlling the sawmill for one whole day. The transmitter has been designed as a lightweight device with a comfortable strap hung on the operator’s neck. With the transmitter, it is possible to control the sawmill sawhead (except for setting the cutting thickness) and activate the sawmill bed hydraulics.

Controlling your sawmill with the WIRELESS option provides safety and work ergonomics but also comfort of operation - especially during unfavorable weather conditions. Did you ever have to work on your sawmill in windy and rainy weather or struggle with blinding sunlight preventing you from seeing the blade in the log well? These problems are gone now! Check out the WIRELESS option and control your sawmill from the most convenient position around your sawmill.

Cant Hook

This traditional sawmillers log handling tool are a must for every sawmill. They are used to roll, lift, move, and pivot logs on your machine and around the sawmill. We recommend using a minimum of two cant hook for basic log handling.

Steel Cant Hook
Durable and long-lasting, Wood-Mizer cant hooks are made in the USA with hardened steel handles and hooks. In addition, a comfortable rubber grip improves log handling control and safety by preventing slipping. The 120 cm cant hooks are ideal for rolling the log to the mill and the 70 cm cant hook is ideal for positioning the log on the sawmill bed. Two cant hooks are recommended for basic handling of 20 to 80 cm diameter logs. Give yourself some leverage and move logs with a Wood-Mizer steel cant hook.
