Blade Profile
α - Hook Angle γ - Back Angle Profile - α/γ

The blade tooth profile is formed by two angles: the hook angle and the back angle. Hook angle is the number of degrees that the tooth face leans forward of 90 degrees. Back angle is the number of degrees that the backside of the tooth leans backward of 90 degrees.

The profile of a sawmill blade should be chosen based on the type of wood you are sawing and what type of equipment you are sawing with.

Our profiles

  • 7/34, 7/39 and 7/47 – Ideal for cutting hardwood on sawmills with higher-powered engines (18.4 kW / 25 HP or more).
  • 9/29 – Ideal for cutting frozen wood and hardwood on lower-powered sawmills (18 kW / 24 HP or less).
  • 10/30 – A popular universal blade, suitable for all power levels, designed for cutting various wood species.
  • Vortex™ – Available exclusively from Wood-Mizer, featuring a unique profile that enhances sawdust removal from the cutting area. Essential for production facilities that kiln-dry lumber.
