The Famous Wood-Mizer LT40 Sawmill – Now With an Optional WIDE Head

Wood-Mizer introduces a new wide sawmill head option for its world-known LT40 sawmill model. This option increases cutting capacity and it is useful for sawyers that require extra cutting width.

The wide saw head increases the maximum width of cut from 72 cm on the standard models to 84 cm on the wide head models. A wider head allows cutting logs of larger diameter - up to 100 cm.

The LT40WIDE model is equipped with 483 mm diameter belted blade wheels and uses a 433 cm blade length. To ensure better blade stability the new LT40WIDE is equipped with an upgraded blade guide arm system.

LT40WIDE - its sawing head is now really WIDE

LT40WIDE Cutting Capacity

  • 100 cm maximum log diameter
  • 84 cm maximum width of cut (distance between blade rollers)
  • 63 cm maximum cant width
  • 5 m (S Bed) or 6,3 m (M Bed) or 8,4 m (L Bed) log length

The WIDE head option exists also in other series of Wood-Mizer sawmills such as LT15WIDE and LT70WIDE.

«Since the wide head option was developed for our most popular LT40 series, we have found that, for example, in the USA almost all new LT40s are now ordered with this option”, tells Roman Frontczak, Wood-Mizer corporate R&D director. “The new wide head sawmills give our sawyers more capacity for sawing wider slabs without sacrificing needs for mill mobility or lumber production.”

The log clamp design will be upgraded soon to provide even bigger cutting maximum cant width – up to 72 cm.
